28 February 09 - 19:41BBC NEWS | Africa | Somali leader agrees Sharia law

Another one falls to Theocracy: "people want?" Is that a joke? These people can't seriously believe that people with a clue buy that. Ever heard of coercion? Non-equal starting points? The effects of poor education or endemic abuse? The threat of worldwide theocracies is real, not some conspiracy theory. They Neo-cons were wrong on so much; credit is due here, though. They (and many others) called this. Yes, Somalia is a failed state, but Pakistan wasn't, and yet it's on the verge of becoming a full fledged theocracy. Which one next?

Paul Kedrosky: Obama on Bank Nationalization: Too Many Banks/Republicans. Culture? Traditions? Is this a joke? What about doing what's necessary? Making tough choices? Besides, we have many "traditions" that need to be tossed into the trash heap of history. Our economic policies being one of them.

08 February 09 - 11:54Technology Review: Who's Messing with Wikipedia?

Who's Messing with Wikipedia?: I prefer this to returning to the "single source of authority" model; this is how things are in the real world. There are disagreements. There's controversy. The facts are not always clear. I'd rather see the debate on the issue than one "authoritative" version which may be dead wrong. This is a step beyond "open" knowledge, and is a good thing.
